Preview of Outdoor State Records
Update...
(June 22, 2005) Last weekend at the Nike Outdoor Championships yielded
some special performances by several relay teams and some individuals.
Several of these performances were considered for state records and have
been verified as new Connecticut Outdoor Track and Field Records. In the
search to verify these performances as records, other event records were
also scrutinized for accuracy. The official record books for Connecticut
Outdoor Track and Field will be updated over the next few weeks as each
of the performances are verified. Also, a project is underway to update
and republish the top 10 all-time performance list for Outdoor Track and
Field.
Coaches are encouraged
to use the Submit Records Update form
in
order to provide information on existing records or to submit new
performances for consideration as a record.

Griswold and
Hyde Tie in Boys CIAC State
Open Championship...
(June 7, 2005) It was
sprints versus distance events, with a valuable field support, as
Griswold and Hyde Leadership of New Haven shared first place
honors at the CIAC Boys State Open Championship on Monday, June 6, 2005 at
Veterans' Stadium at Willowbrook
Park in New Britain CT. Both teams scored 41 points with Norwich Free
Academy close behind with 38 points. Griswold was led by Tradelle
Ward (1st-1600m, 2nd-3200m) and Chris Croft (2nd-1600m and
4th-3200m) and a first from Kyle Hoddy in the Javelin while Hyde
was led by James Nixon (1st-100m, 200m), D'Yonne Crudup
(300mH-2nd, 110mH-3rd) and Bruce Campbell (3rd-Shot Put,
8th-Discus Throw). Both Ward and Croft scored from the slower heat of
the 1600m while in the 3200m, won by Jay Koloseus of Guilford,
Ward controlled the pack of runners in the seeded heat to insure that
Croft's time from the first heat would place in one of the top spots.
Hyde's sprint power was dominant in the dash and hurdle races but
couldn't be brought home in the 4x100m relay as Hyde was disqualified
for passing outside the zone. Norwich Free Academy was led by senior
Myles Bradley who won three events, the 110m Hurdles, Long Jump and
Triple Jump. Meet records were set in two relays as Shelton and
Wethersfield dominated the fields. Shelton set a new 4x800m relay
record by winning in 7:53.20 with the team of Christopher Padilla, Benjamin Guhin
Ken McDonnell and Phillip Padilla. In the 4x100m relay,
Wethersfield finished strong to win in a meet and state record 41.69
with the team of Justin Sricca, James Harris, Persis Oware and Justin
Harris. An outstanding performance came from sophomore Dave
Macklin of Tolland in the 800m run as he ran alone in an unseeded
heat to win in 1:56.35. In the final event of the meet, the
Manchester 4x400m relay quartet of Andrew Repay, Josh Miller, Brian
Wirtalla and Maurice Calenda set a school record to win a hotly
contested race in 3:22.88.
