Week 2 -
Outdoor Track and Field Meet
Results...
(Apr 14, 2005) While a
great number of results have been added to the weekly results page,
there is still a lack of results from the southeastern and southern
parts of the state. Please use the Submit Results button in the
left-side table of contents to provide the details of your meet. Results
for larger meets should be sent as a file, either in the standard Hytek HTML result format
or Microsoft Excel with all results in one worksheet. Coaches submitting
their conference meet results should use the standard Submit Results
form to provide final meet scores. Coaches, fans
and athletes should check the
2005 Outdoor Track and Field Results page for recent results of
weekly competition and weekend invitationals.
Rockville Relays
Meet Program Online...
(Apr 14, 2005)
Meet Director Dave Smith has released both the Boys and Girls Meet
Programs for the meet scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2005 at
Rockville High School. All the heats/lane and flight information is
available in an Adobe PDF file for Boys and Girls Events. All meet
programs and information are available on the
Rockville Relays
website.
Irv Black Meet Event
Entry Forms Available...
(Apr 14, 2005) The Boys and
Girls Athlete Event Entry forms are available online for the
Irv Black
High School Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April 23-24, 2005 at Trinity
College.
Your online Athlete Event Entries are due by midnight on Monday, April 18, 2005.
Rockville Relays
Event Entries Deadline Today...

The deadline for submission of the online Athlete Event Entry Forms for Boys and Girls
for the Rockville Relays is today, April 11, 2005, by midnight. For
those coaches who have submitted their Intent to Enter form all meet
event entry forms and information is available on the
Rockville Relays
website.
Weekend 1 - 2nd
Bloomfield Invite Meet
Results...
(Apr 11, 2005) In the first
weekend meet of the season, some of the state's top indoor performers
started their outdoor season on winning notes at the 2nd Annual
Bloomfield Invite at Bloomfield High School on Saturday. Myles
Bradley of NFA soared 23'6.5" in the long jump as well as speed to a
10.74 100m dash first place finish. Jayme Ross of AI Prince Tech
led all finishers in the 110m hurdles as well as the High Jump. Teammate
Chad Higley swept both the 200m and 400m events. The Hopkins
School distance crew of Dave Arnett, Charles Walden and
Brooks Udleman were able to take wins in the 1600m, 3200m and 800m
runs. In the Girl's events, Jilian Gundling of Farmington
narrowly edged Zoe Black of Hopkins in the 800m, 2:23.55 to 2:23.81.
Stacy-ann Smith of Bloomfield won the 200m and was second in the
100m dash. In a close finish in the 400m run, Stacy Fournier of
Bristol Central beat New England Indoor 600m champion Kat D'Auria
of NFA.

(Apr 6, 2005) Attention
Meet Directors and Coaches: As the outdoor competition starts this
week, please remember to use the Submit Results button in the left-side
table of contents to provide the details of your meet. Results for

Coaches: Meet Director Tom Butterfield has provided information
concerning the 75th Greater Hartford Track and Field Meet
scheduled for April 30, 2005 at William Hall High School that is now
available online on the
Schedule of Events: Outdoor Track & Field - 2005 page. Your
deadline to submit an Intent to Enter is April 22, 2005.
2005 Outdoor Track
and Field Meet Updates...
(Mar 31, 2005) Attention
Coaches: please read the following updated news for some of the
upcoming 2005 Outdoor meets. The schedule of the 2005 Outdoor meets is

Rockville Relays:
The Athlete Event Entry Forms for Boys and Girls are now available for
those coaches who have submitted their Intent to Enter form. All meet
forms and information is available on the
Rockville Relays
website.
The website has been
updated for the
Ledyard
Invitational Relays, scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April 29-30,
2005 at Ledyard High School. The Intent to Enter Form is online
as well as all the Meet Info and Order of Events. Invited teams include
Bacon
Academy, Darien, East Lyme, E. O. Smith, Fitch, Griswold, Killingly,
Ledyard, Montville, New London, Norwich Free Academy, Plainfield, Saint
Bernards, Stonington, Tourtellote, Waterford, Windham, and Woodstock. Your School Intent to Enter
online form is due by midnight, Wednesday, April
18th, 2005 and the online Athlete Event Entries are due by 6pm,
Sunday, April 24th, 2005.
The
34th Hartford Public
HS Track and Field Invitational has added the Girls 2000m
Steeplechase to the list of events. The HPHS Outdoor Meet is one of only
two meets in the state that provide an opportunity for girls to qualify
for the event that is now an official event at the State Open. The Irv
Black Meet will also provide the opportunity for girls to compete in

Last Weekend for Special Coaches
Survey...
(Mar 25, 2005) Survey
closes on Sunday, March 27. MySportsResults.com is asking Connecticut coaches, especially cross
country coaches, to complete a special survey about your opinion on
changing the course distance for girl's cross country Class and Open
meets from 4km to 5km. The survey is authored by senior Cathleen
Balantic of East Lyme High School as part of her school project.
2005 Outdoor Track
and Field Meet Preview...
(Mar 19, 2005) The snow is
melting from the outdoor tracks across Connecticut just in time for the
start of the 2005 Connecticut Outdoor Track and Field season. Per the CIAC regulations, the first practices are allowed on Monday, March 21,
2005 and first contests are allowed to start on April 6, 2005. The CIAC
has announced the CIAC Class and Open meet schedule as well as providing
the tournament packet at their
SportsCenter website.

2005 Featured
Outdoor Meets...
There are several Featured
Meets this season that are using MySportsResults.com meet administration
services for meet entry.
The
Rockville Relays
is in its fifth year and is scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 2005 at
Rockville High School. Meet director Dave Smith is always looking to
provide a unique meet experience each year with such events as an
off-track 2-mile relay as well as championship and class events where
athletes can compete against others in their class. Your online Intent
to Enter is due by midnight, Friday, April 8 and the Athlete Event
Entries deadline is Monday, April 11, 2005.
The
Irv Black
High School Invitational, formally the Trinity High School
Invite, is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April 23-24, 2005 at Trinity
College. Meet Director George
Suitor decided to rename the meet in honor of Irv Black who has put in
over forty years of Track and Field service to Connecticut High School
Track and Cross Country teams. Irv's record as a Track and Cross Country
Coach at New Britain High School are legendary. Irv was responsible for
starting the High School State Championships in the Decathlon,
Steeplechase, and Hammer throw. Connecticut was the first state in the
country that held a separate championship for these athletes. Irv's
original outdoor meet was called the BIG B and was one of the first
large high school invitational in the country. Our meet is the
continuation of the meet that he started years ago.
Your online Intent to Enter is due by midnight, Monday, April 11 and the
Athlete Event Entries deadline is Monday, April 18, 2005.
The
Ledyard
Invitational Relays are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, April
29-30, 2005 at Ledyard High School. More information about the meet will
be provided later this weekend.
The
Manchester
Midnight Invite is scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2005 at
Manchester High School. Meet Director Dan Uriano provides different
events with unique awards for this afternoon through early evening meet.
Along with standard events, there are unique events that include a
Distance Medley Relay, Boys 5000m and a Shuttle Hurdle relay. Your
online Intent to Enter is due by midnight, Friday, April 15, and the
Athlete Event Entries deadline is Friday, April 29, 2005.
The
Middletown
Outdoor Track and Field Invitational is scheduled for
Friday-Saturday, May 6-7, 2005 at Middletown High School. Meet Director
Craig Lundell offers the full range of standard outdoor events for
varsity and junior varsity athletes. Your online Intent to Enter is due
by midnight, Friday, April 29 and the Athlete Event Entries deadline is
Sunday, May 1, 2005.
The
34th Hartford Public
HS Track and Field Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, May
14, 2005 at Trinity College. Once again Meet Director Lindy Remigino is
assembly a high caliber field of competitors for a meet that has been
recognized nationally as one of the top springtime meets on the East
Coast. It has consistently produced athletes who have gone on to compete
and gain recognition in the Golden West and National Interscholastic
track meets held annually for outstanding high school track stars
throughout the United States. Latest Olympians and recent winners from
our meet include Jonathan Riley (5000m), Laura Gerraughty (Shot Put),
and Brian Chaput (Javelin). Last year's meet featured one of the fastest
Men's 2-Mile races in the nation with the top five runners breaking 9:00
minutes, led by Chris Barnicle of North Newton MA in 8:50.82. The
Women's meet was highlighted by outstanding performances by Saratoga
Springs 4x800 (9:07.73) and Nicole Blood's 10:10.73 in the 2-Mile Run.
The meet is sanctioned by the CIAC, PSAL and the National Federation of
High Schools for Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, New
Jersey. Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire. Maine, Virginia,
Kentucky, Washington DC and Delaware. This meet is sponsored Hartford
Public High School with assistance of corporate sponsors. Your online
Intent to Enter and the Athlete Event Entries deadline is midnight,
Saturday, May 7, 2005.
2005 Outdoor Season
Arrives Next Week...
(Mar 15, 2005) Although there
is still snow covering most tracks the
start of the Connecticut 2005 Outdoor Track and Field season officially
begins next week. MySportsResults.com will be providing previews of some of the major meets that are
already on the 2005 Outdoor Track & Field Schedule.
Meet Directors are encouraged to send
us their own meet preview story for publication over the next few weeks.
Meet Directors should also take advantage of the meet promotion and
administration services offered by MySportsResults.com. Details of
the new services are available at the
Meet Admin Page.
