3rd Annual Rockville
Relays...
(Mar 20, 2003) In its third
year, the Rockville Relays is a meet designed to offer athletes the
opportunity to compete in certain events only against athletes in their
own grade. The meet offers three relays for all schools and also has
five events that are limited to the most talented athletes. Scheduled
for April 12, 2003, the Rockville Relays is one of Connecticut's
earliest large invitationals and it offers coaches a chance to see their
athletes compete against a relatively large field as they prepare their
teams for future competition.
Rockville's track is a three-year old, 6 lane, urethane surface. The
shot put and discus circles are concrete; the javelin throwing area is
grass. Last year nearly 750 athletes were on hand, representing over
forty schools. A concession stand will operate all day; t-shirts will be
sold. Trophies are presented to winners in all events, with medals for
second and third places.
Last year the feedback from coaches was very positive, so the Relays
staff looks forward to offering another quality meet for track & field
athletes from across Connecticut.
Official meet information is available from the meet website,
Rockville Relays,
which also includes Standards, Order of Events, an Intent to Enter form
and results from the 2002 meet.
