(Apr 13, 2003) The 32nd Annual Hartford Public High School Invitational Outdoor Track and Field Meet will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2003 commencing at 9:30 am at Trinity College's track and field facility. Teams and athletes from fourteen states are invited to participate: Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania. New Hampshire, Maine, Virginia, Kentucky, Washington DC and Delaware. We hope that your team or some of its members will be able to compete. The online Intent to Enter forms, entry procedures, fees, rules and minimum standards are available at the 2003 HPHS Outdoor website. The Online Intent to Enter forms must be completed by midnight, Friday April 25, 2003 in order for teams to be eligible to compete in the meet.

The Trinity College 400m track is urethane, including the runways for the long jump, triple jump and pole vault. It is recommended that 1/4-inch spikes be used. Spikes in excess of 1/4-inch will not be allowed on the running track and/or runways. The shot put and discus competition areas are depressed concrete circles.

Only individual champions will be declared, no team scores. Large Heisman-type trophies will be awarded to the meet`s top performers in track and field. Loving cups will presented to the meet's MVPs. Watches will be presented to the winners in each event and Olympic style medallions will be presented to the next five place winners. (click to see sample of watch) This meet is considered by many to be one of the largest and most outstanding on the East Coast. It has consistently produced athletes who have gone on to compete and gain recognition in the Golden West and National Interscholastic track meets held annually for outstanding high school track stars throughout the United States.

The meet is sanctioned by the CIAC, PSAL and the National Federation of High Schools for Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey. Vermont, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire. Maine, Virginia, Kentucky, Washington DC and Delaware. This meet is sponsored Hartford Public High School with assistance of corporate sponsors.

3rd Annual Rockville Relays...
(Mar 20, 2003) In its third year, the Rockville Relays is a meet designed to offer athletes the opportunity to compete in certain events only against athletes in their own grade. The meet offers three relays for all schools and also has five events that are limited to the most talented athletes. Scheduled for April 12, 2003, the Rockville Relays is one of Connecticut's earliest large invitationals and it offers coaches a chance to see their athletes compete against a relatively large field as they prepare their teams for future competition.

Rockville's track is a three-year old, 6 lane, urethane surface. The shot put and discus circles are concrete; the javelin throwing area is grass. Last year nearly 750 athletes were on hand, representing over forty schools. A concession stand will operate all day; t-shirts will be sold. Trophies are presented to winners in all events, with medals for second and third places.

Last year the feedback from coaches was very positive, so the Relays staff looks forward to offering another quality meet for track & field athletes from across Connecticut.

Official meet information is available from the meet website, Rockville Relays, which also includes Standards, Order of Events, an Intent to Enter form and results from the 2002 meet.
