Athletes Ready for Nike & NSI National Championships...
[March 7, 2007 - 11:30pm - By
Ron Knapp and Meredith Gordon-Remigino]
Over a dozen schools
have already made their final preparations to send their top indoor
track and field athletes to their final indoor competition at one of the
two national meets; the
National Scholastic Indoor Championships at the Armory Track & Field
Center in New York City or the
Nike Indoor Nationals at Prince George's Sports Complex outside
Washington, D.C. Included among those athletes competing are the

from the performance lists posted at both websites.
The
Nike Indoor Nationals, held annually since 1999, are scheduled
for Saturday and Sunday, March 10-11, 2007 at Prince George's Sports
Complex, Landover MD, outside Washington, D.C. The facility has a fast,

incredible 51.93 400 meter National Record run by Francena McCorory in
2006.
The Bloomfield Boys Team plan on
participating in the 4x200m relay with Dominic Smith, Maurice Calenda,
Joshua Broaden and Marcus Campbell as well as the Long Jump with Maurice
Calenda and the 60m Dash with Marcus Campbell. The
relay placed third at the New England meet while Maurice Calenda is the
New England, State Open and Class-S Long Jump Champion this season.

Championship this year. Janczyk was not on the team because of other
events and has run 51 in the 400 indoor this season. There is also a Boys
4x800 relay team of Chris Janczyk, Matt Greer, Brian Robbins and Tom

Championship. Brian Robbins placed 5th in the 600 at the New England meet
with a fast 1:23.43 and ran a 1:58.29 split on the 4x800 relay. Janczyk
and Greer are seniors, but first year 800 meter runners (they were both on
BC's 4x400 indoor and on the 2006 outdoor team that placed 5th in New
England). They have both lowered their splits to 2:02 and Tom Robbins
(Brian's twin) remains steady for BC in the anchor position.
The Conard - West Hartford team sends their top boys and girls
competitors to the meet this weekend with Andrew Judd (2nd State Open and
New England meets) running the 2-mile early Sunday morning. Senior
teammate Jeremy Goldenberg (1000m - 5th State Open and 6th New Englands)
