Spotlight on 23rd Yale HS Meet and
New Track...
(Jan 18, 2005) The
spotlight this week is on the 23rd Yale Interscholastic Track Meet at
Yale University and the newly installed 200m banked track in the Coxe
Cage facility. The recently completed 200-meter, banked Mondo oval and
infield makes Coxe Cage one of the top indoor track and field facilities
in the country. Mark Young, Yale's Director of Men's and Women's Cross
Country and Track & Field, commented that "We will have eight full
4-foot lanes for both the sprints and hurdles for the first time ever.
The banking of the turns will also be much more forgiving on the legs.
We anticipate spectacular results both in practices and in our
competitions. It will be a far cry from those thrilling dust eating days
of yesteryear that so many of us experienced."
The two-day high school meet starts on Friday, 1/21/05 with a full
schedule of relay events and continues through Saturday, 1/26/05 with a
full day of individual events. The meet concludes with the Championship
800, 1600m and 3200m Relays. The meet typically draws athletes from
several states as well as a full compliment of teams from Connecticut.
More information, including start lists, will be posted as they are made
available by the meet director.
