With the Greater Hartford Invite Cross Country Meet cancelled, the weekend’s events were fairly limited. Opening events took place Friday in East Hampton and concluded Saturday at Thetford.

The Woodstock girls’ team finished in 3rd place overall on Friday behind the efforts of Cassie Guliani’s second place finish in 21:21. Shaylah Carbone was 8th, Bridget Matsas 16th, Anna Savvidis 18th and Haley Chapman rounded out the Centaur scoring finishing 43rd.
Woods Trail Run in Thetford Invitational Results @ Thetford, VT
Thetford was dominated by 7 teams from Vermont or New Hampshire finishing in the top 10 and one each from the southern New England tier including 2nd place Glastonbury with 142 points.
The top ECC girls’ team at the very tough Thetford course was St. Bernard out of Uncasville led by Kyra Coughlin’s top ECC time of 24:05 Kyra’s time for the 5K course was good enough for 129th place individually. The Saints were 39th overall. Lyman Memorial was 41st led by Danielle Aquilera’s 24:52.
The boys’ best effort from a team was Lyman Memorial which finished 46th overall, but got a 19:10 effort from Dan Fields, who is proving himself as one of the top contenders for ECC Championship honors. Fairfield Prep and Ridgefield finished 2nd and 8th on the day, leading Connecticut entries.
