The CIAC Boys 3000m Steeplechase Championship featured a victory by state record-holder Trey Cormier of Hall in a time of 9:44.55 as silver medalist Yankarlos Diaz of Manchester finished in 9:55.74. Although his time was somewhat slower than his state record time of 9:15.19 from earlier this season he concluded his season on a winning note after a stellar senior year that included a New England XC title and a recent Class L 1600m title. The remaining medalists included Shane Henderson of Old Saybrook (10:06.27), Aidan Brock of Greenwich (10:08.11), Matthew Speight of Plainfield (10:17.99) and Justin Halmose of Newtown (10:18.71).
Senior Joseph Lanham of Coventry won the CIAC Boys Hammer Throw Championship with a toss of 201-01 that came on the heels of his fourth-place finish at the New England HS Hammer Throw Championships last Tuesday with a mark of 204-06. The silver medal was awarded to Chris Persechino of Northwestern Regional with a toss of 133-10 while Ethan Wilkie of Ellington scored a bronze medal with a mark of 126-07. Remaining medalists included Eric Meyer of Middletown (118-02), Alex Krause of Coventry (117-05) and Nathan Holst-Grubbe of Pomperaug (116-03).

With only the best marks in two events, Long Jump and 1500m, Sharp was able to score enough points on a consistent basis to surpass 6,000 points. Bronze medalist Hunter Dale of EO Smith earned 5,433 points followed by Adam Crawford of Ledyard (5,437), Matthew Santy of Enfield (5,392) and Zachary Koslosky of Naugatuck (5,387).
As the first day leader of the CIAC State Open Girls Heptathlon, junior Raven Jarrett of New Britain held off all challengers on the second day to take home the gold medal with 4,117 points. Although she only was the best in the 100m hurdles, Jarrett scored enough points across the events to defeat runner-up Patricia Jurkowski of Seymour with 4,065 points. Nia Christie of St. Joseph was the bronze medalist with 3,978 points followed by Madeline Archangelo of Canton (3,965), Chelsi Chevannes of Darien (3,856) and Jessica Savage of Bacon Academy (3,711).
