msr  With the 123rd Boston Marathon set to start on Monday, the recently authored academic paper by senior Rose Kitz of William Hall High School in West Hartford is a timely reminder of how far women have come since Bobbi Gibbs’ unofficial effort in 1966 and Katherine Switzer’s official competition in 1967 in the well-known marathon. The well documented work by Kitz hopefully provides readers with an increased knowledge about the continuing struggle for the female gender to gain equality not only in sport but in their daily lives.
