msr  On Friday night at the 2019 New Balance Nationals Indoor meet the Hall-West Hartford team achieved All-American status with their fifth-place finish in the Boys Distance Medley Championship Relay in a time of 10:13.15. The quartet of Miller Anderson (1200m-3:06.45), Tobias Ruffo (400m-51.23), Muhammad Ali (800m-1:58.41) and Trey Cormier (1600m-4:17.04) also established a new school record. The race was won by the Loudoun Valley VA team in a meet record 9:54.41.

In the Emerging Elite Boys 60m Hurdle finals, Edward Williams of Sacred Heart, Waterbury took home a gold medal as he sped to a time of 7.94.

State athletes will continue to test themselves against the best in the nation today and Sunday at the New Balance Track and Field Center, The Armory in New York. The national meet offers Championship events and a full slate of Emerging Elite events as well as several Freshman-only events. Almost all the Elite events are contested on Friday (EE Mile on Saturday) while the almost all the Championship events are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The Championship races are for those who have made the qualifying standards for those events. The Emerging Elite Division is for those who have not quite made those standards. The Emerging Elite Division is open to any high school athlete who has made the Emerging Elite standards, whether they are Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors. The idea is that, eventually, an Emerging Elite athlete will join the elite ranks, but has not yet attained that status. This division has been in place for several years in the outdoor version of this meet.

The special Time Schedule of CT Athletes Scheduled to Compete at 2019 NBNI report assembled by Senior Correspondent Marty Ogden lists those Connecticut athletes who had qualified from meets this past season who are slated to compete in Championship, EE and Frosh relay and individual events. Those athletes in Championship events are seeking to achieve the coveted All-American status in one of the top six places during the meet held on March 8, 9 and 10, 2019.

The official 2019 NBNI Start List and Schedule of Events are available at the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation (NSAF) host website that also includes ticket information.
