Kate Wiser Takes 7th Place at 40th Foot Locker XC National Championships

logo On Saturday at the 40th Foot Locker Cross Country Championships at Morley Field in Balboa Park in San Diego CA sophomore Kate Wiser of Pomperaug blazed to a seventh place finish in 17:32.2 over the challenging 5km course. The overall winner in a time of 17:00.3 in the Girls Championship Race of the top 40 runners in the nation was sophomore Sydney Masciarelli of Northbridge MA and Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson CT.

The fast time by Wiser placed her fourth on the All-time List of Connecticut finishers at the prestigious meet behind Ceci Hopp (1980-1st-17:12), Liz Mueller (1991-1st-17:21) and Hannah DeBalsi (2013-2nd-17:26). The Boys Championship Race was won by senior Cole Hocker of Cathedral HS of Indianapolis IN in a time of 15:13.7 over the 5km course. State finishers included junior Matthew Farrell of Loomis Chaffee School (23rd-16:04.9) and senior Mustafe Dahir of Choate Rosemary Hall (30th-16:18.3).
