The results of balloting in the final 2018 soundRUNNER CT High School Coaches XC Poll (5) have been tabulated from voting that ended on Tuesday night. The Xavier Boys and Danbury Girls teams received the most votes prior to the CIAC State Open races on Thursday in results available at: 2018_CT_HS_XC_Poll_Vote_Results.
The defending State Open champions Xavier Boys team were the clear-cut favorites in voting after their Class L victory last week as they gathered 70 votes and all seven First Place Votes. The Staples Boys team finished second in voting with 61 votes followed by Hall (54 votes), Tolland (53 votes), Suffield (42 votes) and Danbury (34 votes). The remaining top ten teams included Bristol Central, Conrad, Shelton and Wilbur Cross.
The Danbury Girls team unseated last poll leader Glastonbury after their Class LL win last week by amassing 90 votes and all nine First Place Votes. The Glastonbury Girls team dropped to second in voting with 78 votes followed by Immaculate (71 votes), Pomperaug (60 votes), Ridgefield (51 votes) and Hall (42 votes). The remaining top ten teams included Greenwich, New Milford, Trumbull and EO Smith.
This past season Connecticut CIAC XC Coaches were invited to register to vote for the final top ten boys and girls cross country teams. Ron Knapp compiled voting submissions and posted the results to MySportsResults.com that was readily available for all readers.
