Andrew Malling, Gabriella Viggiano, Staples and Danbury Take Home Titles at FCIAC XC Championship

logo The meet results are available for the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on the Results page sponsored by soundRUNNER Team Nights with stores in Branford, Fairfield, Glastonbury and Old Saybrook. The meet was held at Waveny Park in New Canaan CT on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

The Boys Varsity Race individual title was captured by Andrew Malling of New Canaan in a time of 15:47 for the 5km course as Dylan Pomer of Fairfield Warde edged Christopher Lepore of Trumbull in a photo finish as both were timed in 15:51. The Staples Boys team won their third consecutive title with 42 points to edge runner-up Danbury with 67 points in the 15 team race.

The Girls Varsity Race was highlighted by a down-to-the-wire first-place effort from Gabriella Viggiano of Ridgefield in a time of 14:39 as she edged Lauren Moore of Danbury also timed at 14:39 for the 4km course. The second place by Moore fueled the Danbury Girls team title with 50 points to edge runner-up Trumbull with 57 points in the 12 team race.
