The voting by state coaches was completed last night in the 2018 soundRUNNER CT High School Coaches XC Poll-1 released today that featured the Xavier Boys and Glastonbury Girls teams as the top teams in results available at: 2018_CT_HS_XC_Poll_Vote_Results
The Xavier Boys team edged the Hall Boys team for most votes by an 86-84 margin. Xavier, the defending CIAC State Open champion, also received the most 1st Place Votes with 6 to Hall’s 3. The remaining top ten schools included Staples, Tolland, Danbury, Suffield, Shelton, Glastonbury, Conard and Pomperaug.
The Glastonbury Girls team maintained their pre-season poll status as the top team with 112 votes but fell behind the second ranked Hall Girls team (87 votes) in receiving five 1st Place Votes compared to Hall’s six 1st Place Votes as the third ranked Danbury Girls team (83 votes) received one 1st Place Vote.
The remaining top ten schools included Greenwich, Immaculate, Pomperaug, Trumbull, Ridgefield, Fairfield Ludlowe, Guilford and Staples.
All Connecticut CIAC XC Coaches are invited to register to vote for the next top ten boys and girls cross country teams this season. Any coach interested in participating in the polling this season can register using the 2018 CT XC Coaches Poll Sign-Up form. Coaches must provide a valid email address on the form to receive further emails about the next poll. Coaches who have already registered do not need to register again for further polls.
