The national meet hosted by the National Scholastic Athletics Foundation offers Championship events and a full slate of Emerging Elite and Freshman events over three days.

The Championship races are for those who have made the qualifying standards for those events. The first six places in the Championship events are named NSAF All Americans. The Boys and Girls 5000m Run slated for early evening today are the first championship events on the schedule.

The Emerging Elite events are for those who had not quite made those standards. The Emerging Elite Division is open to any high school athlete who had made the Emerging Elite standards, whether they are Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors. The idea is that, eventually, an Emerging Elite athlete will join the elite ranks, but has not yet attained that status. There are also Freshman only events scheduled during the three days of competition.

State entrants for the Boys and Girls Championship, Emerging Elite and Freshman events are posted at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor website along with an event schedule.
