Two of the nominees for the soundRUNNER Indoor Track and Field MVP for Week 8 were victorious in the 800m Run last night during the Eastern States Championships at the New Balance T&F Center at The Armory in New York.
Emily Philippedes of Greenwich ran a PR time of 2:12.94 to win first place in Girls 800m Run. Philippedes was the 1000m Run Champion at the recent CIAC State Open on Saturday.
Malcom Going of Danbury also sped to victory in the Boys 800m Run in a PR time of 1:53.99. Going had won the Boys 600m Run at the CIAC State Open on Saturday. Both athletes are expected to compete at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championship meet on March 3rd in Boston MA.
Other state athletes who scored event wins at the meet on Tuesday included Aisha Gay of Hamden in the Girls 200m Dash (24.56) and Benjamin Seiple of Staples in the Boys 3200m Run (9:35.98). The complete meet results are available on the MySportsResults.com Results page.
