As the Indoor Track and Field season makes way for the Outdoor season, performances by a trio of state athletes have been added to the CT State Indoor Track and Field record books.
The recent performance of 6.84 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals by Mark Doyley of Weaver (Hartford) in the finals of the Boys 60m Dash Championship tied him with the existing State Record by Sheldon Simpson (East Hartford) set in 2000.
Cassidy Palmer of Bloomfield ran a second record performance of 7.61 at the recent New Balance Indoor Nationals in the trials of the Girls 60m Dash Championship, which bettered the previous mark of 7.67, set by Shantea Calhoun of Wilbur Cross at the 2004 National Scholastics Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The final update to the State Record book was the 8.78 performance by Jada Harris of St. Josephs (Trumbull) in the preliminaries of the Girls 60m Hurdles Emerging Elite event at the 2016 New Balance Indoor Nationals.
A huge note of appreciation is extended to Marty Ogden for his time and effort investigating these performances in order to provide evidence for verification.
The updated Boys and Girls State Indoor Track and Field records are now available on the Indoor Track and Field Records page sponsored by sound Runner of Branford, Fairfield, Glastonbury and Old Saybrook.
