The final four events of the 2015 CIAC State Open Outdoor Track and Field Championship were completed today at Willow Brook Park in New Britain CT as gold medals were earned in the Girls Heptathlon, Boys Decathlon, Boys Steeplechase and Boys Hammer Throw.

As the first day leader of the CIAC State Open Boys Decathlon by 136 points, Damon Vega of Windham Tech started the second day of competition winning the 110m Hurdles and finishing with strong performances in the next four events to finish with a total of 5955 points to take home the title by a 141 point margin over runner-up William Tolliver of Bristol Central with 5814 points. Vega added the Decathlon gold medal to his previous State Open gold medals in the 110m and 300m Hurdles. Cameron Daley of Canton placed third with 5725 points followed by Gregory Atkinson of East Lyme (4th-5678pts), Joseph Fogarasi of Windham (5th-5593pts) and Bailey Raymond of Fermi (6th-5530pts).

In circumstances similar to last year, the champion in the CIAC State Open Girls Heptathlon was decided in the Javelin Throw as junior Jillian Kilmer of St. Paul Catholic out-distanced runner-up senior Jaliyah White of Hillhouse New Haven by a narrow margin of 25 points, 4189 points to 4164 points after the seven events were completed over the two days. White had surged to the lead with 16-05.75 leap in the Long Jump today but then Kilmer re-took the lead she held after the first day of competition in the Javelin with a throw of 97-00 to 63-00 for White. The Javelin Throw was the same event last season where White was out distanced by 2014 champion Anna Atkinson to decide the championship. Jenny Jacobs of Tolland placed third with 3819 points followed by Jasmine McLeish of Platt (4th-3717pts), Kadizha Benjamin of Windham (5th-3710pts) and Gianna Folz of East Lyme (6th-3601pts).

The CIAC State Open Boys Hammer Throw title was won by defending champion senior Eric Bottelsen of Brookfield with a toss of 159-11 that was a significant improvement over his effort of 139-09 last season. CJ Falconi of Seymour placed second with a distant 147-09 effort while Paul May of Bloomfield placed third (144-09), Max Garber of Bunnell fourth (130-10), Jake Ryan of Stonington fifth (129-11) and Michael Joslin of Coventry sixth (128-09).
