The weather on Monday was the only force that could have stopped the Bloomfield Boys and Girls teams from sweeping the CIAC Class S Championship meet again but in reality that was only a delay of the inevitable final results on Wednesday afternoon at Willow Brook Park in New Britain CT. The Bloomfield Boys team defended their team title from last season and recorded their fifth Class S title by scoring 112 points to edge runner-up Canton with 105 points. The Bloomfield Girls team dominated the meet in scoring 148.5 points as Coginchaug finished in a distant second place with 58 points.

The repeat performance by the Bloomfield Boys team at the CIAC Boys Class S Championship was driven by event wins on the track and on the field. On the track, the 4x100m Relay team of Zaheem Anderson, Russell Thompson-Bishop, Thomas Norman and Emmanuel Jones started scoring by a win in 43.31. Three more first place finishes came on the field from Amaziah Gadson in the High Jump (6'0"), Taji Poole in the Shot Put (52'4.5") and Paul May in the Discus Throw (166'5"). Anderson also placed third in the 100m Dash and Long Jump while May placed second in the Shot Put and Raheme Dawkins placed third in the Javelin Throw.

Three meet records were reset starting with Brian Gendron of Morgan in the 800m Run as he finished in 1:55.57 that lowered the mark of 1:56.01 set by Ryan Flach of Oxford last year. Mark Doyley of Weaver the sped to victory in the 200m Dash in a  time of 21.52 that improved the 21.65 mark set by James Nixon of Hyde Leadership in 2006. Christian Alberico of Coginchaug won the 3200m Run in 9:26.39 to eclipse the 2012 mark of 9:34.26 set by Dhahran Velasquez of Capital Prep.

In a streak of consecutive wins of the CIAC Girls Class S Championship team title that started in 2008, the Bloomfield Girls team brought home their eighth first place plaque. Bloomfield fueled their championship title using five event victories and depth in both track and field places. The first event win came from the 4x100m Relay quartet of Andrea Mills, Adia Cavalier, Cheyenne Brown and Erica Belvit who finished in 50.01. More event wins came from Mills in the 300m Hurdles (47.24), Jahleah Harris in the Long Jump (16'8.5"), and by their 4x400m Relay team of Nyla Pouncey, Andrea Mills, Tashay Roberts and Jahleah Harris. Kimmoi Ferguson led a 1,2,4,5 finish in the Shot Put (39'4.25) as she was followed by Brittany Jones, Faith Estelle and Danika Okasia.  Belvit and Cavalier also placed 3-4 in the 100m Dash and 2,7 in the 200m Dash. Harris and Roberts placed 2,7 in the 400m Dash while Yasmine Nahounou placed fourth in the 300m Hurdles. The Triple Jump points came from a 2-3 finish by Hermana Henry and Cianna Belton.

The only meet record performance came from Jenna Gasparrini of Immaculate in the 3200m Run as she finished in 11:01.82 to better the former time of 11:05.44 set by Jennifer Ross of Lyme-Old Lyme in 2011.

Cassidy Palmer of Stafford was a double event victor in the 100m Dash (12.34) and the 200m Dash (25.31).
